The Norfolk Southern disaster in East Palestine is getting more attention, but almost every explanation is treating it as an isolated incident. It’s not. There are over 1,000 derailments every year, and soon that number could skyrocket, leading to even more catastrophes. They'll get a whole lot worse if we don't support union rail workers and advance systemic change.
Vinyl chloride decomposes to HCl gas. When you inhale that gas it basically destroy your lungs. That’s why HCl was used in chemical warfare. I’m surprised there aren’t more attention to this crisis.
Trump deregulation caused it: https://www.phmsa.dot.gov/news/phmsa-rescinds-ecp-brake-mandate-after-ria-finds-costs-outweigh-benefits Ohio voted for Trump. It's the circle of life.
the sad part is they will continue to vote against their interests
Why would union rail worker support have impact on derailments?
Because railroads have been working those workers like a dog and creating unsafe condition in search of profit. Biden solved this problem by banning railroad workers from having strikes to improve work conditions. Expect more derailments.
Maybe, wasn’t this accident caused by lack of visibility? Wasn’t caused by over work
