Well, it was fun while it lasted. But companies have realized that paying a lot for remote employees is not so smart when they can get 5x more employees overseas for the price of 1 engineer for remote work.
There is no benefit to pay huge US salaries when you can outsource same quality for 2x less

Paying a lot for RTO US employee + HCOLA + office space even less smart.
Good thing that Microsoft doesn't pay us a lot. Honestly that's the only reason I haven't jumped ship.
Microsoft is not paying nearly as much when compared to other Magnificent 7. Also, I work on a core team and having everyone in one time zone is much more efficient. Having late night calls really stinks and it wears you down.
