AI Data Sci at JPMorgan vs NASA (internship)

Hello! Note: I have previously interned at NASA as a swe. I currently have an offer for both JP Morgan (on the FAST team) and an offer with NASA (not JPL). Both undergrad. I don't know much about JP Morgan's FAST team and previous projects interns have completed. I know JPM has a very high offer rate and pays about 2x what NASA does, but the work at NASA interests me a bit more. Do the FAST interns actually work with AI/ML or is it basic data sci work? Based on the job description with NASA, I will definitely be working with AI (tensorflow). If my end goal is to do AI work full-time which would look better on a resume? Any comments would be awesome! #google #jpmorganchase #microsoft #apple

Go for the industry and it’s impact that interest you. If you love space and everything associated with that, go for NASA. If you love finance , go for chase

I voted for NASA, but in my younger years I dreamed of doing something exciting, making a difference in the world, etc... But as a nearly middle aged man I now know the real game is to make as much money as possible with the least amount of effort... Plus, you don't know what you'll be doing at NASA, you probably won't be working on the next Mars rover, for all you know you'll build some boring time sheet system. Anyways food for thought.

I know FAST. Join FAST if you want to do product data science for your career. You’re still early on so this decision isn’t that important tbh. They have some ML projects they steward but from what I know it’s mostly the PhDs and senior folks on that team who work on those projects and not the interns. The roles that are AI/ML focused at Chase have “AI/ML” or “quant modeling” in the title. For whatever reason we mostly either hire PhDs or people who had prior modeling experience at a different company into those roles. Vast majority (not all) of “data science” job titles at chase work on data engineering, dashboard building, analytics reporting etc. some do more interesting work.
