This is what’s putting the fear of unemployment into many people. So, the company switching to using AI tools has led to some anxiety within the company. The fear’s only growing because, according to The Information, Google told its employees that it’s going to be reorganizing its ad sales business. #google #microsoft #faang #layoff #ai
I was scared about AI taking my job till I seriously tried using it for tasks. Definitely not gonna happen today. May happen eventually.
I wonder if (any) regulations would also hamper the speed of AI advances? Like for HR and recruiting you have to make sure that there are no biases in your model. Though it will be hard to first make a claim, it would be even easier to prove, no?
and by then I'm guessing we probably would've skilled up to do something else anyway
It will only impact certain jobs. 30000 sounds high
It's saying 30k people in ad sales are worried, not 30k cuts. It's BS
Instead of google search, I just enter the question to ChatGPT. Imagine in 2,3 years why would anyone put ad on google?
That gave me the thought that chatgpt interface could eventually start showing ads in some side panel or something in context of what is prompted. This could monetize the product and perhaps make OpenAI business a lot richer
What is the answer to the question?
The jobs will change, and there will be fewer of them, but they’ll still be needed for at least 10 years.
Considering how braindead a lot of people have willingly become since COVID even a crappy generative AI would perform their jobs better.
Workers who can adapt to new tools and new ways of working have nothing to fear. They'll just adapt and become more productive thanks to these new tools. This has always been the case, and always will be.
What's msn? Why do you click on an article written by a liberal art major?
Why do articles like this keep getting posted? Is OP not a real SWE and has never worked with people before?

Anyone else crying rn ?
In 10 years, probably. Right now, not a chance.
Will be much faster then that. Adoption of "AI" tools already making a lot of people useless
