I'm sure everybody would know Intel bumped up salaries of existing employees by 7%. What do folks think about AMD? New hires are getting paid very good TC compared to existing employees. Would AMD ever do something like this? TC: 🥜😐 #hardware #semiconductor #salary
Intels salary was raised because for the very first time we had a CEO who accepted that our pay was low. The previous 2 CEOs from 2015 never accepted this. They only suggested hikes in certain areas like AI:ML. There was a mass brain drain that was happening at intel and this was noted by Wall Street. In fact a few investors of intel, a big time firm publicly called this out. 1. Does AMDs ceo accept that there is a hike diff 2. Amd stock is only growing. Wall Street and other investors firm are happy with the stock. With these two, doubt if amd can do a blanket increase. You can either have a cal with your manager and say you deserve more or get another offer to negotiate it gtfo
Those are valid points. Yeah. Don't think AMD has any motivation for salary hike. Like you mentioned, company is doing good, wall street is happy and don't think there is mass departure of people like what Intel saw.
The recent survey has compensation as the most important concern. But Im not very optimistic that they will address it. Doesnt seem like the company culture to pay competitively. Old folks are profiting from the stocks and are happy to stay, whereas new people get screwed.
I'm currently PMTS at AMD and been here for sometime. For the amount of work I've done last year I got paid real peanuts. I've mentioned this to our hierarchy multiple times but nothing really has been done. I'm likely going to look for a new job soon. Can't forever get paid peanuts. Attrition is impending. I'm on East coast but still the competition pays better than AMD.
Oh wow. Surprising to see PMTS is in the same boat as everyone else.
I think the base is fine. Just the refreshes are way too low
AMD pay is criminally low. It boggles my mind that some of the best engineers in the past decade are earning 🥜. Lisa Su 2020 pay: $29M Jensen Huang 2020 pay: $11M
Wow. Very surprising to see Leather Jacket rockstar paying himself less than a CEO of a company whose valuation is 1/5th.
But Jensen is the founder and already has a lot of shares?
7% hike happened earlier in 2021 .. Feb-march … if you didn’t get it then probably management thought that you are getting paid fairly. 🤷♂️
Was it a part of yearly comp review?
No .. it was prior to the comp review.
Think like the executive. If the stock is going up and you have a lot of unvested RSU, you are not going to quit. If you are not leaving, there is no need to give you a pay raise. If you like your job AND want to get a huge pay raise, the only way is get an much better offer and force them to match it. But if you already got a much better offer, why not just take it?
Totally agree. If it pushes to the point that only a much better offer can help, then just take that much better offer.
Your stock already pays you
It would've only if we were granted good RSU's.. With the amount of RSU's we get per year, it does not make much difference even if the stock doubles.
Exactly. Cant profit from the measly amount of stock thats handed out.
