And Is it worth putting all your savings or most of it (1.5m) to buy a 2.5m house and ur on visa? htc 750k
Is this in Bay Area? If so, do it yesterday. You only live once.
Are you planning to put down your entire nw as down? That’s a guaranteed dumb move.
Yeah, especially if you pay it off right away and use a points card
If it qualifies you for EB5 visa, I say go for it. If you’re on H1 or something, why not just invest in stock or something “just in case”?
My personal take on this: 1) Don't put all of your eggs in one basket: I'd be uncomfortable having >30-40% of NW in one concentrated undiversified asset 2) Judging by the 2.5m price tag - that's either CA or WA, pierce correlates with overall big tech success.
How much down do you need to put for the monthly mortgage to be manageable assuming it will take a while before you can refinance? Is this house one where you see yourself living in for like 10 years or more assuming you have no visa issues?
If you lose your visa you still get to own the house right?
Why 2.5 million house?
You are thinking it wrong. You only put 500k for 2.5 million. You need to see if you can afford the monthly payments for 2M with your house hold income. If yes , buy. If worse case you need to leave , you should be able to sell at purchase price unless things really go downhill from here. If you can sell at your purchase price , you will still loose 6% , so about 150k, so that’s about 10% of your nw. It sucks but you will be fine.
good way to think
Depends on net worth. If your net worth is a few million, then 2.5 house is ok
net worth is not much 1.5m
Lol … wtf .. its not much
