I am an Indian and working from Bangalore location. I am conidering moving outside India. I have option to take internal transfer to Linkedin USA and I have an offer from Facebook London as well. I am confused that which location is better for me from long term prespective. The career oportunities and pay is much better in the USA but visa will be always an issue. Looking for opinions from Indians who have moved to USA or London.
I would go for London! (Europe ) any day. It’s more laid back, better benefits , closer to home.
Not sure it's more laid back
My personal experience living in both countries
Internal transfer as L1A or L1B ? If former, just take US. If you are a Phd or have publications, EB1A/EB1B is always an option, hence take US.
Gettting a L1 visa is not easy anymore. In some ways it's harder than getting an H1b these days
Isn’t the EB1 priority date like 2015?
Is it easy to transfer to USA inside LinkedIn?
US by far Salaries in London are 60-70% of what is paid in US (US means California/Washington/New York) London is as expensive as those US cities and you are badly under paid So if you don’t have any other concerns, US is a no brainer
London beats South Bay, CA on every dimension except weather, proximity to other tech companies, food (except Indian food). As you and Yummies noted, immigration sucks for Indians in USA. London is a little more progressive culturally.
TC?
If you like the team and have no issues then move to US on L1, after some time ask them to file for H1B.
There’s cricket in London . No cricket in the USA.
This
Haha, yes! But, can one afford to play cricket with those low salaries in London? 😓 Or can one play for free? 😅
If it was a different company than Facebook London would be the better choice
Bad trolling attempt Lol
Move to CA. Work for 10-15 years and save 2-4 million. Follow this - https://www.myroadtofire.com/blog/how-engineers-can-fire-in-15-years-and-have-4000000-in-net-worth You can then retire in 90% of the world and/or follow any of your passions. Btw - London - horrible weather, horrible food, horrible costs, horrible teeth 😂 and now very uncertain future of the economy due to Brexit.
USA any day
