As the title says, Is this true ? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-28/apple-pays-unusual-180-000-bonuses-to-retain-engineering-talent #apple #faang #tech
I thought everyone from our company is jumping ship to Apple. Didn’t realize Apple is suffering from attrition too! Where did you hear this from?
From financial twitter
Apple Aims to Prevent Defections to Meta With Rare $180,000 Bonuses for Top Talent https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-28/apple-pays-unusual-180-000-bonuses-to-retain-engineering-talent
No, it's not.
^ not from apple
This is true but from apple groups it only seems high performing teams in hardware got it
Where's your title coming from? You can't just create a rumor and ask someone else to dispel it
From a reliable financial twitter
This news came from the Bloomberg terminal
I heard it was 800k and a free ipod nano.
I’ll take the iPod Classic any day
It’s actually a free U2 album uploaded to your phone

Thank you for confirming
Guess I'm not top talent
Paywall
Comments will fill you in, but only top teams/employees and in the form of RSUs that vest over 4 years
put that article in archive.md
It's true for TOP TALENT. This disqualifies 95% of all Apple employees.
Sheeesh. And it vests over 4 years.
Just left Apple. Considering 5% as being top talent seems too generous
It’s always been like this for top talent, which is the keyword. Hell, top talent at HFTs are making well over that as their bonus
Only heard about this in hardware. Which makes sense because they're not paid that high vs SWE, they're usually good, and meta is on the hunt. $180k is higher than any I've actually heard about, sounds like they took some top ict5 or 6 as the headline example. It's also a 4 year grant not a lump sum.
The article say some swe as well, but their grants might be lower
Are HW and SWE in different pay grades? Ict 5 HW =\= ict 5 Swe ?
I didn’t realize Apple was seeing high attrition too? Can someone from Apple confirm?
everywhere is seeing high attrition because a lot of people FIREd with the stock rally
True. Now that no one wants to live in a city anymore, not an expensive coastal city anyway, a lot of people just said "Shit, I have $2m. I'm moving to a ranch in New Mexico to retire and get weird. Check you guys later"
