SDE 2 @ accolade seattle

I had a conversation with the HR today and they told me they are thinking of an base salary around 125k. I’m not sure what else should I be expecting.!! I’ll be moving from south coast. Need to know if the base salary is fairly compensated for Seattle or not. They haven’t talked about any signing bonus or relocation expenses.

Don’t join. Don’t know what’s your experience and skill sets are, but this company pays peanut. Check the company review in Blind and decide if you really want to ruin your career

Hey op, take the review from wdfP57 with a grain of salt. It appears they create new accounts to write these "stay away" reviews consistently. I feel sorry for them given that it sounds like Accolade may have hurt them tremendously on a personal level, but that has not been my experience. Admittedly, Accolade is not big tech but for what it's worth, it's very much team-dependent and how you perform, and in comparison to another non-big tech, their TC is competitive (so compare apples to apples). 125K is low by faang metrics and that was roughly the same base 2 years ago. You can shoot for more, I say negotiate for 130+ (still low in comparison to big tech, but not poverty levels low). If this is your only offer, you will be comfortable in Seattle and be able to live in a decent neighborhood and have decent savings (beware of lifestyle inflation). There are no relocation expenses, however, you can negotiate for a signing bonus of max 10k, and you may get around 7.5k. Many ex-Accolade folks have gone on to decent companies so it's not a place to "ruin your career". At the end of the day, you are your career's architect. I did reach out to wdfP57 privately to get some insight on why they’re so bitter about accolade but no response. They may be disgruntled. I’m curious how long they’ve been at accolade, because I would’ve left in the first or second year? wdfP57, how long were you at accolade for?

I have been told there’s no signing bonus or relocation. I am not really aware about the work culture there and still haven’t accepted the offer. Not quite sure about it.

I think it depends how strong a candidate you are and if you have competing offers. There’s definitely no relocation. The work culture is very much team dependent. Some teams have services that make their lives and on-call a living hell, where others are pretty comfortable. Given that we’re in the healthcare space, open enrollment season tends to be very busy but beyond that, it’s driven primarily by our product team. Our managers do a great job of shielding a lot of the BS so engineers can focus on work. Once again, very team dependent. Most folks are chill and from an engineering standpoint, you have free reign in how you approach problems. AWS is pretty much your play field, and our infra team is decent. However if you venture outside of domains they’re unfamiliar with, you’re on your own. But that’s an opportunity to learn. I won’t pretend it’s all roses, but for the most part, my experience has been rewarding. Would I leave if a better opportunity arises, maybe, but I’m not desperate to jump ship anytime soon. My WLB has been pretty stellar lately.
