Meta E4 HW offer expectation
My recruiter at Meta gave me positive feedback of my interview and told me that they will be extending an offer this week. They mentioned it will be at E4 level. Is that a reasonable level for 4 YOE? I want to collect some data points for a decent offer based on the following: Meta position : PD in Bay area office YOE: 4 Current location: Colorado (will be moving to CA) Interview experience was good. I see E4, L4, IC4 for Meta levels. What’s their leveling structure? Cuz someone is wrong 😆 My friend said internally that they use IC# or M# for internal postings.
E4 and IC4 are the same thing, E just means engineer (and it's only really used in SWE track). I think officially "E" in levels are historic at this point and everyone got changed to IC but not certain. Anyone in hardware is definitely an IC level. L levels don't exist at meta, it would just be confused people on blind. M levels are managers, D directors.
Your base will probably be similar to your current TC, ask for more if it comes in below. Meets all expectations 15% bonus. RSUs harder to predict, I'll bet 200-400k vesting over 4 years. Yes IC4 is good/expected at 4 YOE. If you're underleveled you can get promo to ic5 within a year if you're good. Either way you'll want to take the offer as it'll be a considerable pay raise.
Thanks for your response. That's a wide band of RSU 200-400. What factors will decide the allocation? Also, how is the refresher value for average and good performance?
It's more that I just don't know what to expect rather than the band actually being that wide. I think IC4 HW refresher is 65k for meets all expectations, IC5 is 100k. That's vesting over the following 4 years. But silicon should be about 30% higher than my numbers (I'm non silicon hardware and once compared to a silicon eng).
How long after you finished your interview loop did you hear back about the results?

In the same boat. Got an offer extended but the initial standard offer was very low on equity from what I have seen on levels and here on blind. Offer details: YoE: 2 Role: IC4 Base: 150k (Tier 2 City) Equity: 28k/ year Annual bonus: 15% No estimate yet on sign-on bonus
I got my IC4 HW offer to more than that on both base and equity (by a tiny bit) almost 5 years ago, non-silicon which is less if this is silicon design. Not in CA.
Yes E4 is reasonable.
