AT&T Dallas offer ... Any idea abt insurance plans

I have received an offer from AT&T, the offer seems competitive. As I am based in NY so they said I can move next year which is aligned with my rental agreement. But the only drawback which I see health insurance, their plan seems very expensive to me? Anyone from AT&T can help me here to understand ? Also I realize their has been lot of layoffs in AT&T, any idea abt that? Is it really worth exploring new opportunity or risk is more higher than new opportunity? Thanks.

So yeah health insurance is weak and pricey. If you're healthy you can pick the low cost option with a high deductible and they will give you some money into a HSA, like match what you put into it. I think total is a match up to 1k for the year. Yeah we had a few rounds of lay offs. They targeted at the VP level the most but they did target employees as well as contractors. They are hiring in some spots though for growing or very valuable projects. But one big complaint from many directors I've been hearing is that they are cutting the budgets to many projects to save money and looking to cut costs big time. I don't have any input on the specific Salesforce role though. I guess this risk depends on how much of a TC increase are you getting and will this experience help your career grow.

Well honestly their is no increase in TC, but they match whatever I have in NY. Yeah to me insurance also reads very expensive but I was thinking maybe I am wrong. As I was in impression it's such a big company how can they offer expensive health insurance...

Also post this under telecom category and tag AT&T for others to see this and chime in.

I don't think the insurance plan is good as any big name software companies but its pretty decent in my opinion.

Plymouth Rock sohail009 OP Aug 28, 2020

That's what I am trying to understand if I am reading it wrong. For example silver plan has 4000 deductibles and doc visit and everything is kick in after u pay 4000 first. While in my current plan i pay almost same but at least doc visits have fix copay of 20$ as well as for medicine and then rest of other things will cover after meeting 2000 deductibles

Oof 😣

Yes insurance is bad. As others have mentioned if you are young and healthy choose the bronze level and contribute/invest your HSA funds Salesforce integration is a big and well funded initiative right now and one of the few parts of the coming that is actually growing

Plymouth Rock sohail009 OP Aug 28, 2020

Well yeah that's not the case here... I have two kids and also I myself on regular prescription drugs so yeah healthy is not an option here :)... That's why I am evaluating the health insurance plans as they will stuck with me n my family for rest of couple of years.

It's definitely pricey and even when you have the most expensive plans, there's still a fair amount of out of pocket costs. Plus, just as a heads up, they are very serious about the requirement to use mail order pharmaceuticals. It negatively impacted a treatment I was getting because I had to switch to a mail order prescription. In the end, I chose to be on my spouse's insurance from Microsoft because it was a better plan and cheaper.

AT&T here4now Aug 28, 2020

I'd be wary of relocating for AT&T unless you're already interested in the area or it's a good area for your specialty. If the economy tanks, AT&T is almost guaranteed to cut more jobs. They constantly fund and defund initiatives, so it's honestly a crapshoot as to who will survive the constant layoffs and reorgs

Depends on org i guess. Been with AT&T for 5 yrs in the IMS side and haven’t seen a single FT layoff
