AT&T is letting go of all their remote employees. WTH

This is so lame. No wonder why how they have been losing their market share historically. Time for a new CEO.

Ceo, Stankey, himself. A direct email was sent to all FTEs yesterday.

AT&T LHTa18 May 17, 2023

Op is misinterpreting. I think the remote employees are being asked to report to a main location once a week or something like that.

Capital One FlyingByc1 May 17, 2023

Which means they are no longer remote and need to move near a main location. Assuming if you don't comply you're fired then ops title is kinda accurate

Intuit Ssmqwe May 17, 2023

No it’s not. They are not firing people, but asking them to come to office on hybrid basis. Accurate title is, eliminating remote work, not “laying off workers”.

Microsoft hf5gft May 17, 2023

Good on them

Meta notauser2 May 17, 2023

Finally. The pandemic is managed. Time to go back to the office. People forget its less work and more fun

Amazon Foldy May 17, 2023

Why are you happy employees at a company you don’t work for have to return to office one day a week?

Salesforce zgntaiat g May 17, 2023

Misery loves company

AT&T JTA82 May 17, 2023

This isn’t true.

AT&T deathstar6 May 17, 2023

Some truth… we are going from 70% to under 10% remote… and you will need to be in 1 of our hub locations or depending, one of the secondary hub locations

AT&T JTA82 May 17, 2023

It depends on your role i.e customer facing, if you’re not near a hub you can work out of a central office and still be considered in office.

AT&T deathstar6 May 17, 2023

My VP already said I’m staying virtual… I made it clear in the past that if they make me go to the office on a regular basis I would GTFO

AT&T secretdev May 17, 2023

If you're remote and not near a hub city then yeah, it seems like your option is going to be to move or get fired

Intuit Bkap May 17, 2023

I am surprised the company is making this drastic change like that. What’s driving it or what reasons were provided?

AT&T BVQp85 May 17, 2023

I think a lot is free cash flow driven. We are suppose to post $16B this year and Q1 only posted $1B. So this is a way to get rid of employees without paying severance

Google zOKe30 May 17, 2023

Oh no, only $1B what ever will they do

LinkedIn I am a Cat May 17, 2023

They need to save CRE. I am surprised it took them so long.

HTC Troglodtye May 17, 2023

Divested AT&T. Thanks for heads up.
