I appeared for Amazon(AWS) Vancouver SDE1 virtual onsite loop this month which went great by the way. After 5 days, I got a feedback call from recruiter that my result was POSITIVE but team decided not to move forward with my profile. However, recruiter told me that he will be searching for other teams and I may not have to give the whole loop again. I sent some followup emails regarding the same asking about status but haven’t got any reply. After few emails, I looped a senior recruiter(who prepared me for the onsite) who assisted me getting a followup from the main recruiter. I got a reply mentioning that he is still trying to find new teams for me and encouraged me to apply immediately in case I find a role. He also encouraged me to find teams myself to speedup the process. Is this situation common with Amazon? This happened with anyone else before? Are there any teams in Amazon(AWS) Canada looking for SDE? Thanks in advance. #amazon #aws #sde #interviewed #onsite
Happened to me last month. I created a post here asking if any teams had headcount. Got my info sent to a recruiter and got the name of a manager to reach out to. Reached out to manager, recruiter that received my info reached out and set up a call with another manager. I signed an offer the following week. Going to take some effort on your part to speed the process along. If you’re SDE1, it seems like headcount is low, so it may be harder, but you should definitely try to make it happen yourself instead of waiting on recruiter.
Thank you for your comment. As suggested, I have asked from the community about team openings for SDE.
Did you apply for the same role? Or to a new role in the new team
Happens sometimes. Good sign - they want to retain you, but just don’t have an immediate role for you. Start hunting for other openings and you will get through almost straight away.
Thank you for your comment. As suggested by @leetfrk69, I have asked from the community about team openings for SDE. I am also applying through LinkedIn but I think the best would be to reach out to recruiters directly.
Nice one!
I am looking for an SDE2. If this onsite was for an SDE2 position, DM me. I can talk about my team and we can see if there is mutual interest
If the system design round is bombed, and the other 3 rounds went excellent, is it a straight reject? Context: I had 2 hiring managers in the loop, but the system design round was with the main HM.
System design is quite important. So if you bombed it, chances are low.
After I got rejected by AWS I was told "you are amazonian" and they strongly recommend I apply for other roles. Never heard from any recruiter or anyone I spoke with during the process again. Just completely ghosted by everyone ha
No one will reply. Even if someone replies, you tell them your story and they will also stop replying you.

This is a good sign- you are being recycled within different teams because you might be suitable for Amazon just not for the needs of that one team.
Thank you for your comment. Can you tell me on an average how long does it take to get picked up by other teams? Is there a time limit for which profile will be in the pool or something?
