I am in my second year as an AWS SA L6. I know AWS is hiring for this role all the time. I love the role. Where do the tenured SAs go? It seems like everyone is less than a year in. There are only so many managers. The promoted L7 SA is extremely rare based on my research (phonetool). What is the career path, even if it means leaving Amazon after vest? TC 250k L6
L6 -> L7 SA is hard but not impossible, check the leveling guide. Another internal path is to become a Specialist SA, SA Manager, BD, ProServ etc. Or go externally to a competitor GCP or Azure, become a CIO of a big company, start-up. I know some SAs that started their own company etc so everything is possible, you need to find what works for you.

If staying in Amazon/AWS, Many go to post sales...pro serve field consultants, engagement managers, practice managers, customer practice managers, customer delivery architects. Some go BD. Etc. SAs are being hired all the time because its presales and an integral part of the sales and account management process. And on the other side, I see a lot of people in proserve go to accounts side and be SA to work in presales.
