Hi all, new to teamblind here :) Seeking some advice/insight for AWS deep learning team. Just got an offer from them, as L5 SDE, at east Palo Alto office. Does anyone have any idea about what's the culture in this team? Will a SDE role in deep learning team basically just be a supporting engineer doing debugging all day? Lol, forgot to mention, TC 240k/year after averaging out RSU and 2yr sign on, breakdown: 160k base, 100 RSU, 60k signon/yr for first 2 yr
If you tell us TC offer, I will tell you if it’s a good team or not.
edited it :p
yoe ??
What a joke. Are we suppose to guess your comp?
RSU can be higher.
how much higher?
They factor in 15% year on year growth, at time of your offer generation they expect the stock to be ~$2645 in your 3rd year. So you’ll get ~$265k based on that projected value
Decent offer, can get a few more thousands on base and joining bonus. A little bite more RSU’s; but I doubt they’ll budge on it.. good team and solid engineers
Thanks for the insight! Do you know how's the work of deep learning SDE look like? I hope it's not just collecting data/debugging/testing for machine learning scientists?
As an SDE you will debug, test, write code, fix bugs and be oncall.. this is standard Amazon.. there’s no Deep Learning SDE or Rocket Science SDE, all SDE’s are the same.. I don’t know a lot about the team, but have heard from a few friends the team is very knowledgeable and have good leadership.. they also work on Deep Lens device AFAIK
Op can you share your interview experience? Was it specific to deep learning?
Is it MXNet team led by Alex Smola? Or is it related to Sagemaker or Distributed Training team? Comp looks fine, which is in line with G/F L4 comp. But, no bonus or refresher at Amazon; which sucks! Believe in their stock growth; else you won’t feel great!
Its a good offern. Can do 165 base and 65 sign on. What is your current total comp ?
Seriously? You got an offer and expect people to help you out without sharing it??
