Hey blind. My team in AWS is hiring a lot of devs L4, L5 and L6 for backend distributed systems development. 1. We have a multi year charter to grow our team in an interesting domain 2. My team has great work life balance (< 40 hr weeks) and no meeting Fridays 4. We don’t work whole month of December after re:Invent (almost like a month shutdown) 5. Whole leadership chain is high quality from top tech companies and veteran Amazonians 6. Fully remote and occasionally hybrid org The team has high quality devs and interviews are high bar Please reach out if interested and I can forward your resume to my manager and team. PS: Amazon pays ~100% cash compensation first two years so you can ride out this bear market with cash on hand to invest later #amazon #AWS #google #microsoft #crypto #startup #meta
Does the team do PIP?
No pips last year
This year bring great opportunities for pip
Is this Bay Area? Which team is this?
Bay Area and Seattle. Your pick. I can share privately the team name
What’s the expected compensation for L5 ?
Varies. But $350k+ and very competitive if you have competing offers
Is 350k in the Bay? Or Seattle?
I’m still preparing for interviews, can i apply after a month ? ( for L4, 1 yoe)
Sure. Reach out to me on blind
Hey Amazon Hiring Manager, are you hiring TPMs / PgMs too?
Not me. Mostly SDEs
When the time comes to pick the bottom 10% during bi annual OLRs, what does your org do ? How is the bottom 10% determined and what mechanism is in place for them to be effectively managed out (throw some light of Focus/Pivot plans). While you did mention you aren't having any PIP candidates last year, but considering that your org is slated to grow upto 50 people you will have to carry out the executions to meet the 6% URA next year. How do you plan on dealing with it ?
We never had to force someone in the 6% so I cannot speak as we never experienced it. From experience, I’ve only seen this being enforced on really junior and L5 devs who aren’t growing in other AWS orgs. Amazon is a high performance place. If you’re looking to grow your career fast and work for it I see no better place
Is this open for full remote?
Yeah. We have team mates who’re fully remote
Pay range for Remote Atlanta ?
I never Understood the vacation policy at Amazon - it’s 10 days first year? that seems crazy low. What if you get married lol
It’s 15 days in California
You get a lot of free days off from your manager as well
Hi, What team is this in AWS? AWS has a ton of openings on the career site, so it's a little hard to dig through.
