Working here in AWS as an SDE (now SDE-2) has been an incredibly great learning experience. But also an exhausting one. I'm looking for a change, a place where I can learn and work with smart people. But without the crazy fast pace and demanding work environment that is AWS. If you've worked in both Google and AWS it'll be super helpful to hear from you on the differences. Google isn't the only place I'm open to as well, so would love to hear about other places that enable engineers to grow as much as AWS.
Azure isn't bad either if you find the right team.
Have you considered working at FB? We're expanding our Seattle office and we have better WLB, better pay and lots of learning opportunities. Pm me and I'll give you a referral
😂 looks like you just want that bonus. Why else would you refer a random person online?
OP looks like a competent engineer. FB is always looking for good eng
Amazon has been trying to recruit me from Microsoft. I am not interested but I have heard the pay is great but long hours.... what's it like to work there? What is the starting salary for a position in aws team? Is it high because the product is proprietary and u have to learn the product?
Many teams at amazon have reasonable WLB. Depends on if your manager has backbone.
Yup, the transition was awesome. I had the same thought process you're having. :)
