Vote below. I’m curious if I’m the only one… For those that do track, what are your methods of choice? Mint? Empower (PCap)? NerdWallet? Something else?
Put it on widget. 🤐
Nerdwalet is good to track net worth
I have an excel spreadsheet that tracks this based on monthly changes
Old school
People voting “Few times a day” need help
Mostly those are people who have widgets on their phone which show the number in real time based on stock changes. So it’s just there for you to glance at.
Hourly PagerDuty alerts
I used to do it in an excel sheet monthly. Then I built a web app to do it… I didn’t want to share that data on the web and hence locally built the app.
Any reason you don’t use existing ones?
Mainly afraid of sharing data of brokerage account with other apps. I use mint where all Checking accounts and credit cards are there. I keep low balance in checking account and credit card balance info is fine for me. But brokerage account is 6 over 100k so skeptical. Secondly, in my custom app, I can add physical gold purchases, real estate purchases, etc. I don’t know how the existing apps handle that. Lastly, the app I made was a learning project for me to learn Python Django… (I’m now considering migrating to React…)
Those who use some app, how do you track gold purchases, land and real estate purchases? How about international banks?
They will track real estate / land for you (and update automatically based on Redfin / Zillow estimate, or you can adjust value yourself). For gold, most do the same thing, you put the amount you have and they will update the price of it in real time. Alternatively, you can just enter it as a single value and update it yourself periodically. You can also do any arbitrary thing like artwork, just enter the value yourself and it will include it.
Twice a month, on the night before paycheck, so I see the lowest point I'm at. (tracking using text files, awk scripts, and gnuplot)
Every 30min
Literally do not care.
I mean, you do though. If your net worth was 100x higher or 100x lower, it would drastically change your life. You may not care about small changes, but you do care what your net worth is.
I live paycheck to paycheck. As long as I can pay bills I am good. NW is probably somewhere around $300k if I were to guess.
