I had elevated BP reading at doctor last year and have been manually checking with cuff since then. I kind of let my fitness fall off after kids but managed to stay in okay shape biking and lifting. But since doctor told me to get on heart health diet I’ve really been trying to get serious about cardio. Been focusing running and biking and really getting into my stride after 8 months. I still have some work to get to where I want to be but I’m still getting elevated readings and even an occasional stage 1 hypertension reading. About to start the DASH diet too so hopefully with combined exercise and DASH I can get every BP reading back in healthy range. Any blinders had good luck reversing high BP without medication?
How much elevated are we talking?
Like systolic in 120s. and occasionally systolic in low 130s or diastolic is in low 80s which is considered stage 1 hypertension which is beyond elevated.
That sounds normal as long as it's close to 120/80 right? I had 120/80 and the doc said it's normal
Hypertension cannot be reversed. Every time you have salt overdose it will spike and damage your blood vessels. Don’t stop taking medication if prescribed
I haven’t been prescribed yet
It can be reversed, it does takes some commitment & a lifestyle change though. The healthcare industry just wants to feed us lies for their profits.
Just occasional reading thats elevated? Maybe you had coffee, did some physical activity, did not cuff properly etc.
No. Multiple readings weekly
Mine used to be around 140/90, sometimes goes to 150/100. I never went to the doctor about it, but I recently lost 15 lb and my BP is now 120/80 and rarely touches 130/90. So I think maybe you are on the right path, it certainly won't hurt you to have a healthy life style. I do 0 exercise so I think I'll try doing some cardio and lose another 5-10 lbs and see how that goes.
Congrats 💪
I have anxiety, as soon as I put cuffs my first readings always show elevated blood pressure.
Get an ambulatory blood pressure monitor prescribed by doctor. It helps you to determine
Lose weight. Exercise. Drink hibiscus tea twice a day. The hibiscus tea helped drop my systolic and diastolic each by 10 points so now it is well within the normal range. No meds ever and hope to keep it that way.
Get your homocysteine measured in routine bloodwork, you might have a methylation genetic defect (could also do that genetic test ) . Listen to the Joe Rogan episode with Brecka
Diet and exercise don't work for me. I don't have extra weight to lose. My BP has been elevated since I was a kid. I guess it's genetic for some people.
Are you overweight?
Yeah definitely. But I do lift and still look ok so I don’t think it’s all fat. But that might not matter for heart health
Yeah it doesn’t seem to. I’m in the same camp. Working on cutting body fat. Down to 20% from 28% in a year of beginning to cut fat slowly.
