Why are so many chemicals, dyes, and preservatives that are banned in other countries allowed in our foods in America? Is the goal really to get us sick and get everyone medicated for their health conditions? Prime energy drinks just got hit with a lawsuit because they tested high for forever chemicals. Instead of protecting us, the FDA only seems concerned with making sure foods/drinks kill us after a few decades instead of a few months. And on the other end of the spectrum they’re trying to tell us eggs, raw milk, red meat, etc are bad for us. Humans survived thousands of years on that stuff, now we’re supposed to avoid those foods and eat their processed crap? Such a screwed up society
Come to india if you feel that way, street foods are cooked in engine oil
Is this done to turbocharge people?
Perfect for Indian immigrants
Capitalism
Goal is to make profit, they don’t care what happens to your health. Chemicals are cheaper, used to make the food look and taste more appealing, and addictive. Even the crunch sounds in packaged food is engineered. Food industry pays the politicians to not have strict policies, thus they obey the lenient policy and get away with adding chemicals
It’s unfortunate that things have gotten this screwed up, but is the most logical answer. You’d think overall economy would be stronger if we had healthier people, but this is the route they’ve chosen. Big Pharma won.
Capitalism at work + no real punishments for company’s breaking the law.
Every time the subject of a trade deal comes up between the US and UK, the British public and media kick off about all the horrendous chemicals and practices in American food, especially shit like chlorinated chicken. A lot of stuff in America wouldn't fly anywhere in Europe, and it's often in the cheap food that the majority of people eat and enjoy.
Chlorinated chicken?! What fresh hell is this
It means that the chicken was washed with water that contains chlorine in it to destroy bacteria, the same stuff that you have in your swimming pools. It's been that way in the US for a long time. The hoopla around it started when the UK banned it. The concern at that time was that cheap chicken from the US would obliterate the local market and so they wanted to ban it without provoking a response from the US. So they decided chlorinated chicken was unsafe. A lot of stuff that the EU bans typically is to protect their local market, not because US food is unhealthy. There is a lot of unhealthy food in the US though but you'll get that in the EU as well under a different name or processed in plants that are economical for them but not the US. So take it with a grain of salt.
No one is forcing you to buy them, you have options.
You’re missing the point clown
You can't claim someone is missing the point when you don't understand their counterpoint.
