I’m working at Netflix on H-1B visa and things haven’t been going well at work recently. Most people on Blind are familiar with the reckless firing culture at Netflix so I won’t waste time explaining how urgent this is. My manager gave me pointers on where I should improve but most of them are just bullshit (you will know what I mean if you work at Netflix as an engineer) and I don’t think I can impress my manager and make her change her mind. So I’ve decided to just fuck it and stop investing time on or caring about my work at hand and started grinding leetcode (wfh does help a lot on this front lol). In the meantime, I’m wondering if there is anything else I can do to increase my chance of landing a job in 2 months in order to keep my H-1B status. Thanks in advance, Blind community.
So sorry to hear .. You have 2 months, you will definitely find something.
Hope so, I failed my interview with LinkedIn a few years though lol
We are hiring. Dm me for referral
Leetcode and get another
Leetcode, monitor job ads and apply to whatever matches. Also, sign up at passive job search sites like Gogigs, Mirajobs, etc. Good luck!
DM for eBay. Hiring across all levels.
Reach out immediately to all people in your friend circle and LinkedIn and ask for referrals. Grind Leetcode. Set your profile to "actively looking for opportunities" and see the recruiters from startups flood your inbox with opportunities. Don't worry - every single person I know who has been in this position managed to land a job within a month. Because fear is an awesome motivator.
Aim for companies which move quickly with their interview process, apply to Google but don’t keep your hopes high with it. For now, I even suggest getting into a lower tier company just to keep your status, and once you are in you can interview at ease.
Thanks. That’s what I’m thinking too, I was actually contacted by Google recruiter a few weeks ago when things at Netflix started going bad. I told the recruiter I’d love to apply but even if I pass the interview I probably won’t be able to join in time given the current size of the team matching queue at Google
Thats not your problem, its Googles issue to sort out. You just need to nail the interview and put the pressure back onto them. Go for it. All the best OP. Rooting for ya
What's your TC and YOE at Netflix, and what's the reason you're getting fired?
Dm me if you find something on our website
Could I dm you too?
Sorry to hear bro
