It seems like once someone become a manager in Amazon he has the liberty to do what ever he wants and no-one is on top of him. Before leaving Alexa group in Amazon, I was reporting to dumb, arrogant and technically unfit manager. Most of the time he used to be in unconscious state and use abusive languages. His day start with chanting the names of couple of girls in the team of same group and ends also in same way. Finally those two girls get promotion for doing nothing. Wow As usual on one of the day he called me via Amazon Chime and started shouting like a drunken person with lots of abusive words. This was the second time I reported the concern to HR and started looking for a team change. Within 12 hours they put me in dev plan and told I cant change team as a part of retaliation. I escalated it to L10 to Uncle Jeff with lots of HRs and asked them to verify the chime call but of course as usual all the top level directors in Alexa org are from same level of background they never got the courage to do so. After 2 month they put me in PIP. They prepared a fake excel sheet with manipulated start date and end date of Jira tickets and submitted it in system. Many of the items in that sheet was not even having a Jira number and not even a clear description of task + work items those were never assigned to me via any official or unofficial way. The lap dog of manager so called hr did all his best to spoil my career. I took sick leave and started looking for job , got one and left the company. Story was not over. I was the only reportee for first 5 months to that dumb. Somehow he hired 5 more people from his own contact and within 8 months that idiot got promoted to L6 from L5. Its a promotion from L5 to L6 within 8 months where by he was having only 1 person under him for 5 months as 4 people left within one month of his joining. Thats even not enough he has more on top of it. To file my I140 I requested for a EVL letter to ERC , ERC forwarded the same to manager. Its almost 4 month, Manager didn’t responded to ERC. Again I escalated to HRs and VPs thinking that they may have some spine left, but no-one replied. Finally ERC gave me a document for EVL which do not match the requirements of USCIS. ERC Told manager is not responding and they are helpless. Moral : 1)For promotion to L6 manager , not necessarily you need a skillset, a team or do some work … just do boot leaking thats enough. 2)Manager does have power to use any kind of abusive language, especially if the employee is in a temporary VISA and not from United States. 3) To put someone in dev plan and pip a home made excel sheet is enough , doesn’t matter whatever the content are. 4)Hrs of Amazon are the most shameless creatures in world. 5) Amazon do not have any control over Managers and don’t even have a responsibility to provide a EVL letter to ex-employee. I was lucky enough that I got a h1b visa in last moment and changed the company. Just because of the fact Amazon was having the liberty to revoke my h1b visa before activation, I was unable to drag them to court. I would request everyone to stay away from none-technical managers as they are as venomous as they can be. His day start with shouting on me for no reason .. he was a mental case, I was silent for 2+ months and when I escalated to HR, I lost my job … Such a shameless HR and org.

There is a special place in hell for all these abusive managers! Be careful while hiring Indian managers from Amazon. They have the ability to destroy company culture.
Went through the comments and surprised at the toxic workplace that this company has created. I am however not surprised by the nationality of that manager though.
if you have documentation about the complaints, you can easily find an employment lawyer who would sue as this prima facie seems clear retaliation
My h1b visa was not activated when all these happened and Amazon being the petitioner for h1b was having all rights to revoke the petition, secondly the charges of good lawyer was beyond my reach and they were seeking 2000$ just for a consultation. I still have all the proof but when I left Amazon they asked me to sign on documents saying I can not go for any legal complain against the company, on behalf of accepting the leaving bonus. the terrible company do not pay a penny for outsider who need to go back to their own country after PIP.
