Have offer from Accenture and Currently L7 i. Amazon. Growth potential in Amazon to be L8 - nil. Growth potential to be partner/MD in Accenture is 3 years. Base pay is 80% better than Amazon. #consulting

That’s a big step down. Amazon L7 is impressive, ACN SM is not. You need to be coming in as an MD
Consulting will “hire down” frequently. That said if you don’t have a book of business you can bring in over the next 2 years do not expect them to hand you MD
Coming in as SM, you’ll have extremely hard time building your network and starting to sell to make MD in 3 years. You have to sell at the MD level for 2 years to be considered for MD promo, so effectively you have one year to ramp up. Unless you’re confident you can do it, you’ll be setting yourself up for failure. And like others said, why would you ever switch from Amazon to Accenture, especially if it’s not Accenture Strategy (MC at Accenture is second tier and attracts people who couldn’t make it to Strategy, everyone knows that. Even after they merged Strategy and Consulting into one, the delineation is real)
Agree. Accenture is shark tank more than others firm... as SM you will be brutally got by peers and managers and consultants “trusted” by others command chain.. being MD in 3y LOL good luck with that
The book you bring would have to be massive to make MD... either you have a book and are worth MD or you don’t and this is probably 5 years
I hired Senior Director from Cisco on L7, I would have have hired VP or above of Accenture at L7. You have to be on drugs to take that

Income potential at big consulting firms or SIs is basically unlimited if you don’t care about having a life and can sell.

Agree with everyone here. Don’t switch to Accenture.
I was a level 2 MD at Accenture when I left and now work in tech. You will have totally different job experiences and very different comp models. If you are deeply technical - go to Amazon. If you are more business inclined - go to Accenture. You can’t make a wrong decision. Amazon will pay a variable and equity. Accenture’s will be far less but a higher base.
