I have been doing I interviews for a internship DS role for summer 2020 and finally landed one in late 2019, I accepted it. Now FB and other non-FANG companies are reaching out to interview me. Should I keep interviewing with the hopes of getting a FANG offer and if so leave or should I just stick with the one I got and re-apply next year? First year MS student. TC - 🥜
Keep interviewing and see what happens. It's an internship that can boost your future earning potential and resume visibility against your peers. You have an offer in back pocket as a safe guard. These company will give you a yes or no very soon before summer comes around. Nothing to lose. You're also.not obligated to tell your school either.
So what about the offer I accepted. It does say in the paperwork that it will be final once my background passes. So I guess is not final but is it ethical ?
They may blacklist you for pulling off something like that — do you care though? Definitely no legal issues with that if this is what you’re worried about
Ethical is a matter of perspective. Day the background check clears, but you keep interviewing and other more prestigious companies give you an offer. Your objective after grad school is to build a good resume. You need good experience of course but set yourself apart from the masses with a FANG name and you're good.
It’s good practice to keep interviewing if you have time
Just go with what you have in hand and actually become good software eng - don’t see blind posts and the craze for fang - it’s all fake
Do you plan to do.another internship before you graduate? I would be upfront about having accepted an internship for summer 2020 but that you'd like to be considered for the next internship round, then depending on their response determine whether reneging on your current internship is worth the it.
Internship or fte?
