I will be joining Facebook in few weeks. I am little worried about my WLB. When people say they work 60+ hours per week. Do they mean they stay at office for this much time ( including lunch, small talks with teammates not related to work, ping pong etc) or they are actually working that involves continuously using their brain? I don’t think my mind would function after working 7-8 hours continuously. How do you guys do work 12+ hours a day without losing focus? Current TC: 170k
Does FB SEA have lower promo rates because of the perception of fewer hours worked?

Those are fake numbers. No one works over 40 hours here, except a few folks with chronic inferiority complex. 8 hours a day dedicated solely to the work (ie. coding, designing, reading), not YouTube, Twitter or lunch, is already a lot. You’d be exhausted in a few days if you really *worked* that much. Although, people occasionally do some work on the weekends, if they got a sudden enlightenment or spent too much time on YouTube during the week. Btw, in Seattle it’s the best, because we have a ton of ex-MS people with kids who don’t give a shit, or maybe just learned how to manage their time properly :)
Damn now I want to join
Yep, would add gym though as part of that day!
