I don’t understand the point to learn Alteryx instead Python.. Any useful opinion? #data #dataanalytics #datascience
Not a replacement for python but good for PoCs
Alteryx is so easy to use. Highly recommended only if you don’t want to learn SQL and Python. Cons- expensive and hence only used in very big companies. Can’t match python.
what are the most use-cases?
I’ve used it for ETL (get data from X source and put it into desired Y format), and automate the same. Why not Python you may ask? Well because my company has the money to do it but not enough time or resources to train me lol. Other use cases can be it has huge amount of public demographics and geospatial data built in which is very easy to use and transform. We’ve also built Alteryx workflows for end users to remove any manual overhead in a task. You can also plug in R or Python scripts for advanced control.
Hate Alteryx. My last company used it. It was for their BI team.
Same applies for Matillion. I was demoing it and literally had to use their Python module to write some logic against the file names we were loading. Just told the sales guy “lol yeah we can code here we’re good” Love prefect for scheduling/orchestrating though
Alteryx is for people who don’t know how to code
