I applied for a TPM 2 position and was really looking forward to the process. Had recruiter round, hiring manager and fellow TPM 2 interview - all went really well. My chances of getting the job seemed solid - the role was super aligned with what I am doing currently. In the loop , one female was so unprofessional and called me names. She literally called me stupid to apply for this job as it is a step down and what not. Joined the interview meeting late by 15 minutes and didn't give me a chance to explain my background and experience. Extremely RUDE. I really think Expedian needs some training to conduct interviews. I dediced to discontinue my interview process and sent them an email explaining what happened. #expedia #hotwire #hiringcommittee
Women can do no wrong at Expedia. That's their culture.
Is it just a super “lean in” culture where the women won’t get fired because of quotas?
We have 4 people on blind who constantly whine about women in every channel and topic. I’m no shrink but that level of obsession with anything isn’t healthy. To answer your question: our leadership is like a broken record -constantly talking about diversity because it fills airtime and they have to answer less uncomfortable questions. In reality nothing happens.
What bothers me - this was woman to woman. Pretty bad experience.
I am sorry you had to face such a bad experience. Expedia is a great place to work at with some really amazing people around. You did the right thing by sharing your feedback and I hope you don't bias your opinion based on one bad encounter.
I don't think EG is going to extend the offer anymore because of the feedback I have shared.
If they did, would you consider it if they gave assurances that woman couldnt harm your career?
That is why closed the chapter and sent an email after this happened :) I really wish more candidates raised their experiences. Don't want to be a part of a brand that can't give a welcoming voice to the potential candidates.
Sorry you had a horrible experience OP. I’m so damn curious who you came across.
❤ Thank you! My husband said don't base your opinion of one person. But for me it was 25% of Hotwire :) I talked to merely 4 people. Someone at top - Sr. Director.
What’s her name? Name shame here
Not sure abour that... 😆
Same story here.. I think she is the only lady Sr. director in Hotwire. I also heard lot of stories about her from other colleague friends. Think positive that you dodged a bullet! I know lot of good people already left company just because of her!
You are so talking about the same person. I also know few people who have already left or want to leave because of her. Btw, I escalated to HR and they did call me back to apologize and to tell me that an action is taken. God knows what's that action. But I made my point at least 🙏
What position did you apply for btw?

What an awful place to work. This same thing happened to me at this shit company called Oura that makes wearables that don’t even work
Really wish if people could be nice. Tech world is small, you will bump into each other. I am sorry to know about your bad experiences ❤
Eh it’s a little different if you’re a shit head recruiter versus an engineer. Nobody really cares what recruiters think
