Adderall later in life?

Has anyone started taking Adderall or whatever later on in life during a successful career, and if so what's your experience? I've coped with add for a long time but now I'm wondering what I might be missing (would be nice to not have to read every paragraph 3x), but I have not tried any prescription drugs due to possible side effects etc. TIA!

You should probably meet with a psychiatrist and they can help you figure all this out

I tried meds later in life and it really helped. I wish i had tried them before. I slowly upped doses under doctors care. After a year, dr felt i could slowly come off... sometimes you just need a temporary dose to get your body chemicals aligned

How long have you been taking it? Any side effects for long term, like getting dependent to it? I know that depression pills are hard to cut if you got used to it for several years

Yes amphetamines cause a physical dependence. With occasional off days, it’ll never get very high as you won’t need to increase your dosage much. Withdrawal effects aren’t too bad. It just gives you a headache and makes you tired.

I started add meds at 37 and wish I had earlier. One thing: find an add specialist. Getting the meds right can take a few tries, and your average psychiatrist isn’t up to the task. I know a few good ones, if you message me your region I’ll give you names, if I can.

I started on Adderall XR at 30. I wish I would’ve started much sooner in life.

I did IR for a year and it was super helpful but got off of it due to the ups and downs and fucked up sleep. How is XR? Thinking of giving it a shot.

XR Is great. I take one pill in the morning and I’m good all day. It is a little slower to come on compared to IR but it’s also a much smoother come down.
