I think it’s time to be honest on Blind and accept that on average, remote makes us less productive. Not saying this is true for everyone but I think for the majority, this is true. A lot of studies coming out supporting this. This isn’t bad. Less productive employees are leading to need for more hiring. More hiring means better life quality for workers. Companies with tight margins will suffer but companies with good revenue will be able to subsidize good wlb. One thing to note is “productivity” is not from your view but from the company’s perspective. How much time you save driving doesn’t matter unless you are using that time for focused work. I’m not your manager so be honest when responding to the poll! Edit: Thanks for participating and sharing thoughts! It seems like Blind users are the more productive type in the market or most folks here are lying lol.
“Studies” will always come out in support of whatever the ones with money and influence want. But overall, it can go either way. What’s interesting is that the whole debate has riled up tech more than anything. In SAP, most of non tech roles have always been almost fully remote or significantly remote. For me, I am equally if not more productive(or unproductive) from home. Going to office, there is a lot of time leakage that might feel like productivity. Somehow, clocking in x hours gives a feeling of doing my part of employment contract. Not necessarily means more productive. I struggle to get focused work done at office.
This. I hate when people say “studies show that” without realizing that most of those studies have biases, agenda or are paid for by interested parties.
I'm equally unproductive remote or office
Always has been
This is the correct answer
Nice try RTO boomer
lol it is the unproductive suburban boomers who are the most in favor of WFH
Most boomers I know are pro WFH because they can pick up their kids, run errands etc. Plus they usually have house with dedicated room for office.
I’m sorry, what’s your TC/YOE? For me it’s not whether I’m more/less productive remote than I would be in office. I would guess Its about equal for me. It’s that I think I’m more productive remotely than the other clown you’d hire could ever be in office or remote
TC or GtFo
I think it depends lot on the person. Initially I was doing better but now I have become a slacker
As an IC remote is better. Maybe you forgot about the random office bullshit distractions and desk drive-bys?
“Desk drive-bys” thanks for the laugh
Get nothing done at work because everyone wants to socialize. Work is for remote days.
I'm no where productive!
More productive for sure. At work I just make up crap to look busy and concentrate more on looking busy as there’s too many distractions and chatter to concentrate. Walk around and drink coffee to look like I’m socializing.
It used to be productive for me. Over the time i started slacking
Yup, that’s what Ive been noticing. I think most of us were very productive in the beginning but it has been 2+ years and now a lot of ppl are finding balance
For me the problem was that over time my colleagues started doing basically no work and getting away with it. Made me feel like I was carrying the team for no extra gain. Management still praised the colleagues who put in 2h work a day. So I just started doing the same... Lol. The same can happen in the office where people are on social media all day. Though from my own point of view, if I'm forced to be at a computer in the office I may as well just work. With remote I often play wth my dog or play games
