NW required for FU money with no kids, house paid off and 100k expenses per year?
I have an offer from adobe for SDE4 (aka CS2 within Adobe), Bangalore location in cloud tech team. Offered compensation is ~74 LPA, split is 48.6 fixed, 18.75 (~1L-USD/4yr) RSU, 6.75 is Annual bonus (~15%) [0] what’s compensation band for CS2 lateral hires? What's the scope (fixed/variable/rsu) of negotiation here? I have seen few posts about micro-management (tight deadlines, too many meetings), so wanted to know - [1] What is the work culture like in Cloud Tech India Org? [2] What is the usual hike given in annual appraisal cycles, and do they award new RSUs on annual basis, if yes then how good or bad is that. [3] What is the general outlook of managers? YOE: 8+ TC: 52 LPA (sde2).
Getting RSUs is a tough nut to crack. Last year many people got RSUs. I feel it's due to high attrition rate. But, general rule is it's rare and only if you did something that caught eyes
All posts about micromanagement and too many meetings is true and you should take that into consideration before accepting the offer.
Offer is good. Adobe noida is a shit show. Don't know about banglore. You will have less work with more headaches. Micromanagers, strict sprint planning, make sure you ask your manager and team review if possible. Offer is solid though. Can't expect more
Depends a lot on team. Most work in India is ops and configuration heavy. Before jumping ship, make sure you meet your manager and team. You will get the feel.
10/10
From 52 to 74, I think it's not a decent offer. You should also consider the stock which is tanking continuously. Whereas Amazon splits it's share and thus it is expected to perform better. I strongly feel you should negotiate more. As far wlb is concerned, it's bad, real bad in cloud tech. Appraisals are 8-10 maximum and RSU refreshers are given to rare people
8+ years , still sde2 in Amazon🤔🤔
Amazon is known to offer sde2 aka L5 role to anyone who has above 2yoe, even to CTOs.
Aacha...so you recently joined... Whats the min yoe for sde3
This is really a good offer .. I am cs2 (8+) joined recently and getting a very less pay than this (60lpa CTC).. should I consider switching again ? I am into DX.. I am seeing a lot of negative comments about wlb but luckily I have good work life balance and a good manager.. work culture is also good and thers is good quality of work as well .
If things are good. Then stay. Just to get 10-20 lakhs more, is not the worth, if u loose mental peace in next company
@vWjr13 I had 70+ offer.. i wanted to join adobe only so I tried to re negotiate with adobe.. adobe came back saying this is the max for CS2.. this is pure lie..
I have seen that around 50 percent of team gets refreshers. Wlb is team specific. Teams are generally smaller. I suggest to speak to your manager to know more. It will also be good to speak to a prospective peer level person. I personally feel Adobe is a good place.
Offers seems very good though for an Adobe CS2
Usual hike is 8-10%. Culture depends from team to team. There is a focus towards hackathons to increase innovation. Work pressure is real and the problem will be writing less code but attending more meetings
Thanks, can you also tell What is the usual annual bonus percentage?
In my almost a decade-long experience with Adobe (Noida, non-Cloud tech team) there was only one time I got 9% hike. Rest every year, it was 12%+ with the highest being close to 32% (got two hikes in a year), but average close to 15%. I exited as CS2 with fix ~45L and stock etc.
