Advice- Google start date?

Have a job offer to go to Google. Leaving Databricks after 2+ amazing years because I recently had a child and want to focus on being a father. I’m not scared of layoffs, but am afraid of getting my offer rescinded. When’s the best time to start and what are the chances of a rescinded offer? I would have to start sometime within the next 2 months. YOE: 7 TC: 550k #Google @Google #tech

Join as soon as you can. Don’t keep a long gap between accepting and joining. BTW - what’s Google offered TC and level?

L5, about 450k. A “paycut”, but more cash and more time with my toddler, which you can’t put a price tag on :)

What’s your take on likelihood of rescinded offers? (and I guess layoffs too?)

start asap then 0 day notice or work two jobs at the beginning

I’ve heard that advice and respect people’s choice to do that, but I don’t think I’m brave enough for that. Have too many close personal relationships with the team to do 0 day notice

start two jobs?

Google's earning report for Q4 is Feb 7th. You might want to wait for it before resigning? Or join by 25th Jan. Try to avoid a join date right around Feb 7th.

How bad was the WLB at databricks? Secondly, WLB comes down to the team, have you done the due diligence to confirm that your new team at Google is chill?

I love my job at databricks but I have kids so I decided to put in my 40h and not bother about anything else. If someone has a problem with that they can talk to their therapist.

Don't you have paternity leave at DB? Is Google willing to give you 18 weeks paternity?
