Been working at the current company since I graduated. I am looking for advice on how to best make use of my initial call with recruiters. I am going to talk to Google, Uber, Slack and Nextdoor. Should I reveal salary ? What about invested stocks ? How much to focus on compensation, considering a lower total compensation is pretty much a deal breaker for me.
Never give them the number in the first place. Do the interviews and get the offers first. If the number is lower at that point, let them know your expectation. Never ever give them your initial expectation.
You can give them expectations about the level, but don't give salary expectations. They'll lowball you if you do that.
Never tell your salary. Just say market. Your next company can give you a better sign on if you have anything vesting soon. Good luck
So you would suggest not revealing salary, but reveal upcoming vesting?
Not right away. But after you get the numbers you can push more with upcoming vesting.
