Hi All, 7 months ago I switched from one consulting company into another consulting company. I was attracted to the new role because the the new role had the promise of “building startups from the ground up”. While the move has made work significantly better , I still find myself looking for more as I have only been building CRUD applications and i have noticed the company doesn’t retain engineers. Another main thing that bothers me is I have no say in the product , I just get tasks from the PM and then implement by following someone else’s instructions(documentation/stack overflow). I feel like I could’ve moved to a better place and wasted alot of time from making the wrong decision. Because of my dissatisfaction with engineering roles so far , I have been struggling with deciding if i wanted to stay in engineering and aim for a product company/FAANG/High growth startup) or pivot to PM role. To add to the confusion even more , recently i found myself really pulled into the tech behind blockchain tech after reading a few white papers , so also potentially pursue a role in crypto as the industry is new and there are many opportunities for innovation Any recommendations on how to make the right career decision? Any exciting engineering driven companies to work for ? How to juggle multiple changing interests? My dream is to one day work in VC , explore different new technologies and help them grow ( but even that dream might change) I can’t even find the time to start leetcoding between my time working/exploring PM career path/exploring B school options/reading crypto white papers . My head is just spinning as I don’t what the right path to take 😂 #swe #pm #vc #tech TC: 135k 2 YOE
