Rahul Gandhi is an idiot
Got senior offer from Airbnb (L5) and Amazon (L6) (number TBD, assuming Amazon will be 50k-100k more with cash). Like the culture of Airbnb more than PIP. Company outlook is unclear (layoff + recession). One hesitation is scope: Airbnb is IC and path to staff level is hardly seen. Team scope is small. In comparison, Amazon senior is more leadership role and accessible to manager track. Any other factors to consider? Thx. TC: 270k yoe: 8 #airbnb #amazon
Amazon isn’t really all bad, and morale at less established tech companies with tanking stock prices is really shit right now (ask me how I know)
Is Lyft morale also tanking? It's more a matter of how company compensate the loss, some does/promises good refresher, some do one-off discretionary bonus. Most just let people go instead of layoff them. Meta morale is also tanking given high attrition rate and new hire RSU hit.
Which did you choose?
Amazon's comp structure is better as a new hire in a bear market. You get the monthly bonus right away, and if the stock tanks more it doesn't affect you until the bonus runs out, and you can jump if you don't get refreshers by then.
ya it's very tempting to accept cash these days. However, they PIP people and don't offer generous severance package like Airbnb does in 2020, do they?
If you get piped I think there is a point where you can take a severance, or try and fight the pip. I also think Amazon culture heavily depends on what team you join.
