Affordable safe places for an indian to stay near Newark?

After my previous post, I realized I need to go down on my requirements significantly. My office is in newark! 1) below 2.5k ( 1bhk, 600-700 square feet, amenities - dishwasher, dryer, washing machine, air conditioner/heater, refrigerator ) 2) safe place to stay with enough Indian community/restaurants 3) 20 minutes car drive to Newark office 4) not interested in staying near NYC border 5) single ( not looking for great school zone area ) Currently looking into Secaucus, grove street and harrison. Piscataway, parsippany seem far (45 mins). Is there no other option than to look into these areas? Few people said jersey city is kinda shady. Don’t want to stay in Newark due to high crime rate. Is this possible or do I need to go down even more? Suggestions please? TC - 160k #housing #newark #newjersey #renting

Why aren’t you checking areas like Fort Lee, North Bergen, etc.? Fort Lee is really good and the best part there is BYOB. Lots of money saved by getting your own alcohol. I’ve lost count of how many wines I just drank in different restaurants. Also, buses take you to NYC pretty quickly. If you take those jitneys, they will drop you in 180th street in Manhattan in a matter of less than 5 min and you have A and C trains. A trains skip stations and reach Manhattan in like 15-25 min. C trains are much slower

The areas you’ve listed Piscataway/Edison/Iselin/Metuchen is probably your best bet if you don’t want to live at the border. Other options are Montclair/Clifton/Bloomfield, but not as many Indian restaurants.

In addition to Montclair/ Bloomfield, there’s rutherford, Nutley
