Mark didn't collude with Apple, MS and Google to keep the salary band capped. Since 2010's, we got paid a lot and salaries across faang companies shot up significantly. Doesn't look like it will continue with all the privacy fines, meta hate and dying products. https://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-tech-jobs-settlement-20150903-story.html

Instagram and whatsapp?? Lol
Sad for engineers because we are earning less, but good for the world if meta is indeed dying.
Meta changed the game for compensation and fast promotion. It was almost unheard of to become E6 equivalent at other companies in 4-5 years and E8 with 10 yoe. Lot of my friends have net worths well over $5-10M in their mid 30 and are able to retire at 35 if they choose to though most still work to pass the time
All of that dumb money made it’s way into COL in the Bay Area, Austin, Seattle etc. Meta dying off is good for the universe.
I can’t imagine how all 70k Meta employees across the world are having such a disproportionate impact on housing and COL in cities with millions of people. Does it impact the neighborhoods of the top 1%? Yes. Does it impact the neighborhoods for everyone? Unlikely.
Congratulations, you contributed nothing that makes sense. Are all 70K employees being paid Bay Area salaries ? The snowball effect of paying way above median in certain markets meant that every tech company followed suit causing the insane cost of living in cities with heavy tech presence. In turn driving out everyone else that help a city function - so yes, it impacts everyone in those cities.
Dying product? Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp had the highest engagement and FOA (Family of Apps) had the highest MAUs last quarter. Get out of the bubble on Twitter and Blind.
There's even precedent and a playbook for successful lawsuit if you have any evidence companies are colluding to suppress wages again.
Mark was the only one not colluding to screw developers. Say what you will about it he’s also the only one still pushing new future innovative products with the metaverse and ar/vr.
Come on. I want meta to die but that company is as evergreen as Google, Amazon and Apple. It's not going anywhere.
Amazon and evergreen? Wow
I have always hated Meta and Zuckfk
Have you seen meta stock?? Meta is going nowhere.
What does that have to do with anything? GE was the largest company in the world based on a stock price manipulated by buybacks, layoffs, and clever accounting.
Tbf. I’m more likely to pay a dollar a month for Facebook/Instagram than any other social media. Reddit is fun for sure but it often feels like a bunch of anonymous people pretending to be better than they are. Blind is the opposite 😂
