Whenever I got an email from paystubs that my stocks have vested, I just deleted the email and never bothered to check how much money I have in that account and when I opened it today, I saw 175k. And I am so happy to see that, I have tried to time the market and lost money in the process, it's unbelievable how my best performance in the market was to not look at the stocks. Makes me think about all the people who work at meta and Nvidia, who probably see a million or more in their account but I don't care, I am happy with this!
175k a big deal, despite the constant TC comparisons on here! That’s more than enough for a 1-2 down payments on a home. Congrats on your growing equity 🥳
or more like 1/4 a downpayment in the Bay
Enjoy
GG well done. Invest, diversify, sell sometimes. There will be ups & downs but it is worth it.
That’s great! How much is going into the market? Just curious but congrats!!
I made that in half a year of shares at Google. Weird I think that’s why I got laid off lol
Same happened to me at Meta
Keep saving and investing, the fact that you're at a big tech company early in your career is huge potential to grow your Net Worth. Max out 401k Max out HSA Dump as much extra cash as you can into a brokerage account and buy something like QQQ You'll be a millionaire in less than a decade
What's 3Q?
QQQ is the stock ticker symbol of an exchange traded fund (ETF) that trades on the NASDAQ. It's pretty tech heavy but has 100 companies in the fund. The biggest are Apple, Microsoft, Google, Nvidia, Amazon, Meta, Tesla so it's got good exposure to big tech
Is that 175k after tax? Your grant must be 500k over 4 years?
I men you just got lucky with timing. Lots of people who joined meta at peak in 2021 are just now seeing returns
You can lose it without looking at it too. Better to diversify.
i mean, it's still in the market. you can lose it at any point
… you must be fun at parties
