Agile is a micro management

I feel Agile is a micro management. In my company they make sure we log every hour we worked. There focus is on logging hours rather than task completion. What do you guys think, whether companies should follow something which works rather than micro management

Not logging hours but daily scrum was a thing. Where one gotta update their points

I feel only scrum masters and micro managers says it’s helping.

Program manager does the same thing

Agile process in essence is not micro management but it’s true that management and people twist it to gain control of the project and teams.

It is like saying communism is a great idea but it gets ruined by the people that implement it. That’s why it failed in 50+ countries. Bro, it is a bad idea. Daily scrums are micromanagement in steroids. Assigning points for every little thing you do, is micromanagement.

Apple take-it Apr 27, 2022

Agile doesn’t ask for daily scrums, it’s a framework. Who assigns the points is again not dictated. If PMs could just chat and assign points no need for any micromanagement

Dell lev84 Apr 27, 2022

That's scrum and agile being implemented incorrectly. That was not the principle of scrum or Agile.

Agile is improperly used at the vast majority of places as an excuse for micro management

Teams need to take a hybrid approach of blending Agile with what works for them. Very often POs and scrum masters forget that. All these methodologies are in context. Do not need to follow them word by word. I have been lucky enough to be in teams who take a hybrid approach.

"In my company they make sure we log every hour we worked. There focus is on logging hours rather than task completion." Your company isnt being agile. If you're not able to recognize that then you yourself don't know what agile is yet. That's the biggest problem here: people calling something agile that clearly isn't and using that inaccurate experience to make blanket assumptions about real agility. For this poll to be useful it would first need to be established what agility is. Here is a good overview called Agile product Ownership in a nutshell: https://youtu.be/502ILHjX9EE

I know agile but I am not a rule maker. Managers decides there own version of agile to micro manage. What I am telling the whole notion of agile is not working. It’s unnecessary creates a stress than helping

If you have people called "PO" or "scrum master" on the team then yea. But most tech companies are loosely agile but not micromanaged at all.

Your company isn't not doing agile right....

Agile is just job generation for people who want power and not work for it lolz
