A host contacted me 3 months after I left to ask if I broke their toilet. š¤¦Bro, at this point hotels are a 7 star choice over airbnb. Room service, no bullshit rules/house chores, no stupid mf'ing hosts, no corner cutting on cleaninliness, no "95 a night, $800 total with fees" BS, no issues with checking in because code doesn't work/host fell asleep, etc etc etc. Feel free to share your horrible airbnb experiences. #airbnb
I remember there was a scandal with a AirBNB owner spying on residents of their home using video surveillanceāever since then, Iāve been hesitant to sleep in AirBNB rooms. Thereās all sorts of videos about how to detect hidden cameras in your rooms, and even how to see if your mirror is double sided; there are no shortage of hotels that pull this stunt on their guests. Not to mention securityāmaking sure that your door is locked and not accessible by anyone is paramount of minimizing the chance of a bad actor getting in and stealing your belongings. Airbnb entrepreneurs lol Some people bought houses last year just to rent on airbnb. Cant wait to see them suffer
90% of Airbnbs are middle of the road experiences with more hassle, same/worse price, fewer amenities, and no breakfast compared to a 3 star hotel. The other 10% for large vacation rentals or unique locations are still worth it to me, but for those you know you're paying a premium for something different than a hotel.
I traveled recently for a week & 1st instinct was grab an Airbnb then I remembered all these spooky stories. Stayed in a mid-range spot (fridge, mini-kitchen) & I didnāt have to worry about any of this junk
There are some respectable rental agencies outside of US that use ABB to find clients. My international experience with ABB was mostly good. Inside US - as you described.
If you just want a room to sleep in while youāre out of town then a hotel is the best choice but AirBnb is still good if you have a large group and want an entire house or a cabin in the woods, for example.
I found hotel suites/long term stay hotels to still be a better choice, even if I need 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen. Airbnb is *literally* only good for a cabin in the middle of nowhere.
If Iām looking for an entire house/cabin in the woods I use Vrbo. Everything else is hotels. AirBnb really doesnāt have a use case for me.
Itās purely based on their estimates and actual revenue. They have been consistently beating it and the market likes that .
There are really just the two issues as far as I see it, the added fees and the checkout lists. Airbnb should create a standard for these (like, donāt allow them), because owners have really taken it to the extreme. It is not uncommon AT ALL to have an hour or more worth of ācheckout tasksā in a nice 20 bullet list for you to do upon leaving with cleaning and fees that double the nightly price. Iāve stayed at a couple dozen or so airbnbs over the years, and this is really my only complaint.
Gf and I were visiting Seattle in an AirBnB and the guy was a complete dick! Called me a burglar for showing up 10 minutes early, can't even take these ppl srsly
This sounds great, link to this Airbnb please
