AirBnB support is very bad. Often times these are support staff from Arise Virtual Solutions that work from home and have to pay to take calls. Some of these agents have not even worked with the company for more than 7 days and are unaware of the policy. When they receive a ticket the first thing they want to do is close the ticket without addressing the issue One day to checkin a guest canceled their reservation but I have strict policy I listed 5 bed and 4 sofa beds it appeared as 9 beds on AirBnB search. Again this is not my fault but more of an Airbnb design problem. So the guest wanted to cancel because he said his 8 guest cannot stay on sofa bed. I offered to purchase 3 additional queen size beds but not sure he understood me he went ahead and canceled. I offered to still host him even though he canceled at first Airbnb support staff said he wasn’t due a refund and the will uphold my cancellation policy since everything was properly disclosed Then the guest called another agent and the agent went in and refunded the $5000 booking against my cancellation policy. This is the issue I’m having with Airbnb, a customer support staff says one thing and another one does the complete opposite. I opened a case and of course they take their time to review and respond back because once they make a decision they never want to backtrack even when they are wrong This is not the first time this has happened a guest I have an upgraded room and she accepted. After staying she requested refund because she did not stay in the room she booked. I told her no because she accepted the upgraded room with a king bed and private bathroom and she still had access to her other room which I’d all in the chat. she called AirBnB support 6 times and each agent told her no , eventually she reached an idiotic agent that did not bother to read and refunded her 30% of the stay. I eventually was able to reach that agent and after 1 hour on the phone he eventually apologized and said her will give me back the 30% but till today I have not received it and I just let it go because it was small amount. Calling AirBnB will just be further waste of my time since their support is so bad. It seems no booking is secure on this app since a support staff can always go in before or after a stay and issue refund full or partial at their discretion. #sidejob #housing #airbnb #shorttermrental

I'd be scared to rent the house out. There was one story I saw about a long term AirBnB rental where the guy squatted in it. But actually renting the home out REALLY opens you up to squatting. Or with the covid where in some places people suddenly did not have to pay rent yet whoever is the owner still needs to pay mortgage and bills.

Well sell your rental and invest in some secure income bonds... no one is forcing you to do airbnb and complain

This house can only be rented for at most 60 days in a year in different months of the year. The majority of the year I live in it? So how is this ducking up rental market?
I totally understand your concerns and am empathetic to your situation.I think the company grew a lot. And with the growth comes additional responsibilities towards its customers which they are sometimes failing to fulfill. Your case could be an isolated (there may be more like your case which we don't know) one and mainly related to support service of AirBnb. Hope you will get your issues resolved soon.
Not a fan of Airbnb anymore and agree their support sucks. But this issue you are facing is result of false advertising. You should have listed it honestly as a 5 bed place. You tried to squeeze every bit of those 4 sofas! I don't see how it's Airbnb design problem. Tomorrow I can have chairs long enough for me to sleep and ask Airbnb to create design solution to feature them as chair beds!!
It is listed as five bed room and 5 queen bed and 4 sofa bed. It is AirBnB that decided to show 9 beds. I did not enter anything about 9 beds. And I had no idea they will be displaying 9 beds
