I got a call for onsite after the telephonic interview and then suddenly the recruiter says that Airbnb is not hiring currently for software engineers less than 5 years of experience. Can anyone from Airbnb confirm ?
It's definitely true for Seattle
I noticed this trend for few companies recently: Facebook, indeed Is this sign of too many software engineers in the market
Some companies, especially startups, find themselves bottom-heavy right when they need to be executing on critical initiatives. I suspect Airbnb is one of them, given their looming IPO and push into new strategic directions. The Seattle office, for example, has a bunch of junior people, and they’re aggressively trying to hire senior ones.
When did you have your phone screen? Same thing happened to me but it was last month.
same last month
Okay checks out. I got past the phone screen and got cancelled on when scheduling the onsite :(
Most tech companies are moving towards this, unless they have a Intern, Junior, or Associate role program
Does that mean that the market is slowly getting flooded with software engineers?
Probably? I honestly do not know
If it is true that's fucked up dude.
