I heard Airbnb / Twitter / FB has good benefits, especially great good 3 times a day. Are you guys not missing it now considering its all WFH? Are your companies providing any expenses to offset that loss. #benefits #tech #bayarea TC: 230k
I really, really, REALLY miss Airbnb food. The breakfast alone was worth going to the office for! But, like FB said, happy to have the job still since 25% of the company wasn't as lucky.
Yeah, I hear you my friend! And did you had any pay cuts for the people who werenāt laid off?
We lost our bonus for 2020
Yeah, I definitely miss the Twitter cafeteria, the juice bar and the espresso machines. Those alone are what will bring me back as soon as the office opens. Awesome coworkers are a driving factor too, but damn do I love/miss the cafeteria. I would say of the top 10 nicest meals Iāve ever eaten in my life, a good half are from the Twitter cafeteria, and Iāve only been here for a year.
Seattle?
Yes 1000$ and no layoffs...Yes I miss the breakfast, lunch , smoothie bar etc š¢
Best juice bar in the industry for sure
@airbnb you came and leeched at our juice bar?
To be honest, I'm just happy to be able to do my job in safety and with job security. They've paid $1000 for home office stuff, $720 for home gym stuff, and some more for new internet and childcare expenses. Also a lot of flexibility around hours, time off for family etc.
Wow, thatās so nice!
Jealous. YOE/TC?
I miss my coworkers and sense of community more than the food. But dammit I do miss the food (also: not having to do dishes; I feel like Iām constantly doing dishes). Technically Twitter is only 2 free meals a day... ādinnerā is paid, to-go, and leftovers from lunch (highly subsidized, I think itās like $5 a meal). I rarely got dinner unless I knew me or wife would be too slammed to cook. As others have said, $1000 productivity stipend to build out a work station has been great. Also used the wellness benefit (typically for my gym membership to subsidize a surfboard and some hiking gear). Mostly Iām grateful I have flexibility to maintain my livelihood with minimal disruption amid all this.
Plus once a month company wide holiday on Monday.
That only happened twice
Thatās because they announced it 2 months ago.
Iām loving the ability to work from wherever I want. Totally worth the trade off imo.
Where you working now?
Airbnb cancelled H1 bonus, and possibly H2 bonus as well. So instead of $50k+ in bonus, I have a $300 home office stipend. If given the choice, I would have taken the layoff + severance package.
What is 50k? And whatās the typical bonus they give at Airbnb?
Finally someone posted something smart. I asked if I can be laid off, but they said no. It was an amazing deal. Bonus is based on your level and company performance. Very similar to FB. I know this number is huge for MS pplš
Yes 25% lay-off with decent severance package is a great benefit :D
Were you part of that?
I wish, would of been a fat pay day
Yes 1000$ and no layoffs. More than what I expected
1000$ a month or itās one time?
One time. What are you smoking
