This just the start. I think Airbnb is in free fall. It’s the last of the covid meme stocks still standing that benefited greatly from the pandemic at the expense of hotels. No one is using it anymore.l in 2023. I’m an avid traveler. Went on a group experience tour 20 different people from different countries while traveling. Not one person had booked an Airbnb. All we’re staying in hotels
Always prefer hotel chains. Less unpredictability. Bye Airbnb . Not missing you
Totally agree. You can get comparable hotels at fraction of Airbnb price. Hotels have far better quality of service. Airbnb support is a joke. Their business is not going to thrive.
A joke indeed. We had a party property show up in the neighborhood and had to deal with more than a couple instances of gunfire in an otherwise quiet street full of families. A bunch of us reached out to their neighborhood support team and they literally closed the ticket with “sorry, we confirmed the incident was not related to the Airbnb” despite a damn police report and the statements of half a dozen people who live on the block. I used to love Airbnb, operated one myself, but I think I’m done this year.
I am a host on Airbnb... Raised rates by 5-10 percent every year for last several years, and kept mostly fully booked... This year is different though . Only about 50 percent booked.. not sure if it is the prices, or if Airbnb use is just slowing....
It's slowing. After cleaning fees, rules, etc it's just easier to stay at a hotel. Only time it's advantageous is with group trips with more than 4 people.
Airbnb bust is real. Google the trend
Airbnb is a joke : they display one price but at checkout time they add a bunch of hidden fees …
Aren’t hotels doing the same?
Didn't Airbnb changed it now with last update?
Glad to see Airbnb pop, this monster made some cities totally unlivable for locals .
This should be top comment
I hope to see it gutted for what it’s done to my neighborhood
Never using airbnb, hidden fees and shitty hosts. Airbnb is only good in case of booking for large groups, that too you hardly save any. And you are left with list of rules you have to follow while leaving.
Exactly only makes sense for large groups
Airbnb no longer cheap... it's same prices as hotels...
In some cases hotels are cheaper
They (as in nearly all STR) got banned basically in Kansas City. KC went from not enforcing exsisting regs for years to basically an outright ban effective immediately. Some absurdly low number of units were registered and those the only ones grandfathered. The ban is something like no STR in residential zones and then in commerical one rental per 1k feet. Wouldn't be surprising if more cities follow similar path
How are they enforcing it?
They changed how it's structured so they can actually enforce it now I guess (forget the details). But basically they can actually fine non permitted listings (200-1k a day) and they're trying to have the platforms require a permit to have an active listing. There's still a portion that's unclear to me is a lot has been focused on non resident operators so not sure how it impacts locals renting out their primary
Where one goes expecting an idyllic vacation and get stressed on seeing the todo checklist and have to pay an inflated cleaning fee for work you already did. Some airbnb slumlords are the worst.
Airbnb is adding an update where you can rate a host checkout procedure. Hosts with bad ratings will be removed from the platform, hopefully that will help
Way too late for that. Reputation has suffered and I refuse to use it. The fines are more than the rental + fees.
Same here . Went on a trip just booked a hotel .

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
Wonder why it took a nose dive ? Did they report loss ?
Yes expect major drop in growth growing forward. Market was expecting a boom in bookings
Somehow the market is more regarded than me
