I do tech screens at Google. AMA
They must be hurtin'
I don't think so. Bookings in July were only down 30% compared to last year, and they just raised $2B in April https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bloombergquint.com/amp/onweb/airbnb-plans-to-unveil-its-financals-next-thursday-ahead-of-ipo
Yeah, I think Brian did a great job getting company through crisis, but their business segment is saturated and will be changing significantly. I am not going to invest
Just curious, why do you think their business segment is saturated?
My husband is in big real estate business. His company has property in Miami they rent out. They used to have renters for beach properties that rented multiple apartments to sublet them on airbnb. All of them are currently cutting their business, saying that after Airbnb share they don’t make any profit.
Gonna be overpriced at IPO.
Agreed. They’re only having an IPO to raise capital and inflate their valuation under the notion of a weak returning tourist hype.
No we split our stock to be cheaper.
Two things stand out : 1) they must be hurting for $$$. Due to covid they are probably running out of cash and need public funds. 2) they want to cash in on the tech hype while they can.
apart from their business model and profits, the engineering team seems pretty solid. we used to religiously follow airbnb style guide for front end development
YOLO
FEES
This is probably not the right time for this...
Couldn’t agree more.
Why not? Markets are hot. People need weekend getaways
