Isn’t it supposedly a great place to work at? How did they get known for that? Did they pay glassdoor? Had paid shills shilling on the internet?
At least it’s not Pinterest? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/11/technology/pinterest-francoise-brougher-gender-discrimination-lawsuit.html?searchResultPosition=1
“When men speak out they get rewarded when women do it they get fired” LOL dude when men speak out we actually get ridiculed
It’s a design led company and blind is mostly engineers. Most people are happy but there is a minority who hates how things are run- and they are more likely to rate airbnb poorly. Tbh though our differentiator is our branding and design, not our tech (which is great IMO, if not terribly complex).
what do you mean by design led company? Like you think your company is successful cause your website has a lot of white space and big fonts, not because of sharing economy + predatory market practices?
VRBO is in the space too- but airbnb has a better brand and appeals as a more artsy, travelly platform
Was there for a while. Early days were good cause it was growing so fast despite bad decisions. Growth slowed and it started to become a cash burning machine that made poor product decisions. And limited investments in infra, internal tools, structure.
Coworkers are great. Leadership sucks
+1
Yup
Did you miss 2020? COVID wrecked the travel industry so Airbnb laid off 25% of employees and cuz bonus. It’s been painful
The company was dying before covid. Missing growth goals consistently
We’re ashamed, we’re so ashamed 😭😭😭
Airbnb constantly gives to their employees which creates entitlement. We also lack a culture of “shut the fuck up and do your job”, leadership never pushes back on the constant nagging. I always say that you could give some Airbnb employees a ton of gold and they’d complain because it was too heavy.
We just laid of 25% of people, canceled bonuses and delayed our IPO. While these are the right business steps, doubt employees feel like giving the company a 5 star rating right now.....
Well, if they’re the right business steps then they should give a five star rating. It’s not like these changes came about to appease shareholders or drive up the price of a stock.
Ok
3.3 is likely lower than reality given 1/4 of the company got laid of and nobody is ever happy aboit being fired
That explains If everyone who were let go gave 1 star, while everyone else gave 4 stars, the average would be 3.3
Not saying it would be 4 otherwise, just that it's likely skewed down. If I were to guess I'd say 3.7 3.8
Has something changed? 2020: Am I a joke to you?
I know 2020 is a bad year but long time employees who have given negative reviews say that Airbnb has been that way for a while now. Also their problems were unrelated to the chaos caused by the coronavirus (e.g: clueless managers).
Selection bias?
