Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
Starting the process to IOT the whole house. Switches, plugs, garage door, etc. I know about pfsense, home assistant, etc. But I need a voice assistant. Both Alexa and Google work with home assistant. TC: $282k Edit: I do not care about privacy. All I want is a voice assistant that works seamlessly. I think Google can club switches together e.g. 'turn off light and fan' which Alexa cant without creating a group. #alexa #google #iot
Google simply for the E2E speed of utterance to action.
I use HomePod, Siri isn’t as smart and can be a little dumb at times but I somehow trust my data with apple instead of Google and Amazon 🤔
Sorry. Apple no go for me.
I had Alexa… dumped her for Google assistant, could not be happier.
Kindly elaborate with a few examples
For example I would ask Alexa something, her reply didn’t have anything to do with what I asked. The integration with ring was poor… and overal I ended up mostly using the speaker to listen to music… On the other hand, google has a whole ecosystem that works amazingly. I started with a speaker, then got the hun, the nest thermostat, fire alarms, next doorbell… I find myself using my voice to turn lights on/off, turn TVs on or off, running the Rumba, asking questions for school… Alexa was just not as capable.
Do people really hate Amazon that much that they would recommend OP to buy an inferior product? Lol
Why would you say is an inferior product?
From my experience, Alexa understood me better (English is not my first language), lots of skills, and depending on the model, better sound.
Google is better and faster to be honest , I work in Alexa
Google voice and intent recognition is pretty high. That said....I still walked in on my living room lights switching on at 2am on 2 separate occasions. Still like my assistant though.
You should consider HomeKit, even though individual pieces like Siri are not best of the breed, overall, you will have the best in class ecosystem and range of devices to choose from. I will go as far as suggesting Google if you have an android phone and Apple HomeKit if you have iPhone as you can literally control your entire house, garage, electronics, lights, cameras from phone - from anywhere.
I have homeassistant for that which is opensource and equivalent to homekit. yeah have an android phone
I’d recommend to stay away from HomeKit the ecosystem might be good for iPhone but so many restrictions on grouping/customization when dealing with multiple devices
Google is just better with a low of things. I have both and rarely use Alexa.
Alexa’s third party integrations and skills go much further than google and can integrate with almost anything. However, Google’s natural language understanding is much better as they have been developing it on Android for so many years.
Alexa might get PIP. Never know how long she will survive.
