9 am to 9 pm, 6 days a week

You will have to travel to China once every month which is not fun considering the 13 hour flight each trip and the extreme air pollution in China

How is the salary though?

Uber Jumper Apr 13, 2018

300k, with double work, but you get to learn Chinese which is a free perk.

I don’t think Alibaba should be your top choice if wlb is what you care. Working in Alibaba is fun, exciting, but also challenging and demanding. It pays very well but I am not sure about how it’s hourly rate would compare (996!). I have multiple coworkers/friends joined Ali, and a common pattern I observe, is that they are either pretty young (no kids yet), or having a stay-at-home spouse, or at least their spouses’ job is very flexible. All of them are very happy with Ali because the work is exciting and impactful, and the pay is good, while they do acknowledge it can get very busy to the point of being exhausting sometimes... So think carefully if wlb is one of your top consideration.

My two cents, if you are already a senior or higher level at FANGM...whatever and feel stuck at moving further up, and if you are a Chinese, Alibaba, along with other Chinese companies, is a good place to go. Should either one of these two conditions does not hold for you, think twice

I think the team in alibaba is so small that we will get more second hand info than first hand ones.

My comments are from direct conversations with people who work at Alibaba. Other than being a small team, I guess people working at alibaba are probably too busy and happy to post here :) The atmosphere on blind in general could be very negative at times. I actually wonder what people can actually gain from being negative. It is just not very logical to me.
