For all the top 20 or so SWE roles I checked on their career website, I see security screening or cloud background check. Can someone on a work visa pass or have those? From what I see online, you need to be US citizen to pass them. Is that so? May be that’s why my resume isn’t selected for 10s of roles I applied, with C# being my primary language of experience and checking every single bullet in the role description. Are there any roles without those requirements? Thanks TC: 190k
It checks criminal or legal issues like DUI, sex offenders and other stuff. On visa doesn’t affect the result of the check. Every company does this before your start date, and employment usually contingent on passing such check.

Question about women in their 30’s?
A security screening or background check is not the same thing as a security clearance. Almost all companies do a background check and there is no reason a visa holder can't pass them, it just takes a little longer.
