First job: 1 y 4 m Second job: 1 y 10 m Third job, Current: 9 m I really dislike my current company. If I leave around the 1.5 year mark, would that be bad to have 3 jobs under 2 years? If I could go back, I'd probably stay at my older companies longer. I have a better idea of what Im looking for in a company.
What doesn’t work for you at Qualtrics?
It’s a sales driven culture and engineering suffers dramatically because of it. They don’t test, they force features that are not even half-assed (quarter-assed)? and they sold to SAP which screwed whatever semblance of cloud architecture they wanted.
Thank you for sharing! Are you forced to migrate from Google cloud to whatever SAP has or are they open for you to choose where’ve suits the tech needs the best?
Yes you are but as long as you can explain it then you are good. Six jobs in seven years here.
What were some of your explanations for 6 jobs in 7 years? My last one was TC increase but that's not the best reason companies want to hear on why I left.
> My last one was TC increase but that's not the best reason companies want to hear on why I left This is untrue; you just need to frame it appropriately. You didn't leave for more money -- you left because you felt that you were not being appropriately valued and received an offer from Acme, Inc. that provided an interesting challenge and also fulfilled your compensation expectations.
10 jobs in 14 years..its ok as long as you can explain
Be patient grasshopper
Don't worry about it. Just do what realistically good for your career
First job : 8 months Second : 15 months Third : Starting next month
Are they lateral moves?
Yes
How did your TC grow as you hopped?
Yes you are. People care a little bit but as long as the market is so hot it's still ok. Doesn't look good though
Except when the market isn’t so hot and margins are slimmer. That’s when companies want employees they can invest in and don’t feel they will jump when the wind blows. Most blinders have never been in a downturned economy.
I agree. I'm a job hopper myself. And when the market is hot nobody cares. When it isn't, they care. Mostly, I like new challenges and I'm extremely picky about management and company culture. If you job hop as a contractor, people care less, so that's what I do.
