Currently, L6 at Amazon, and want to move. Have been interviewing for staff+ level roles. The offers seem lower than what I was expecting. Is the market so down or just me being lowballed? Offers (negotiations in progress) Uber - 560K LinkedIn - 490K TC: 430K Seattle Yoe 9
How is offering more than your current TC a low-ball? Is this troll?
How does current TC matter? Offer needs to based on the role, and I didn’t even tell them my TC.
How is offering less or equal to current TC not a lowball? Is this troll?
LinkedIn Staff is senior anywhere else. + I think companies know Amazon pays 🥜 so there's no incentive to bid higher unless you get higher offers
Do you know if Amazon L6s can get Sr Staff at LinkedIn?
I'd imagine it's possible
After layoffs companies do try to lowball, especially as a first number (see e.g. https://interviewing.io/blog/how-to-negotiate-with-meta for some context). Multiple offers potentially triggering a bidding war + being firm and ready to walk away is as important as ever.
Meta/Netflix etc might pay more. Uber/Linkedin cannot 🤷♀️
Trying for Meta, but don’t see too many roles at Netflix.
Oh I thought Meta was hiring in hordes
Congratulations for the offers. Real question. Do you do leetcode at this level ?
Yes
Are these numbers for Bay Area or Seattle?
Seattle
Staff linkedin seems low
What is the max that you think it can go to?
Bro still thinks we’re in 2020🤣
Those seem normal. Staff and Principal levels at non-faang barely crack 300k TC most times. That seems like a good offer from Uber tbqh.
Uber offer is good compared to others, but current Uber staff eng are at 800K+. I guess that’s the cost of oversupply of software engineers.
The staff TC are out of whack because of the recent Uber stock rally. The offer you got is good for Uber.
